The Functions Of A Topographic Survey

A topographic survey is usually performed by a group of geologists with the goal of producing two-dimensional maps which represent three-dimensional components of the landscape. The features commonly included are both natural and man-made objects, such as mountains, lakes, trees, dams, buildings and roads. These diagrams are also known as relief maps.

The cartographers use contour lines, symbols and colors as representations for different land elements, including elevation and depressions. The line, polygon and point are the three main symbols incorporated into topographical diagrams. Small structures such as buildings are represented by dots. Straight, curved and dotted lines are used to depict linear items such as roads, railways and rivers. Wide expanses of water are often indicated by blues, dense forests with greens.

Contoured lines spaced apart at specific intervals can be utilized to illustrate sharp slopes, deep trenches and tall mountains. The more closely spaced lines symbolize steep hills, while widely spaced lines denote gentle slopes.

There are several methods used during the creation of relief diagrams. The direct inspection of a site has been a consistent practice since the earliest known topographical map was created by the United States Geological Service in 1876. Visiting sites can provide the map-making teams with important confirmable data points.

Since the 1940s, aerial studies have also provided valuable resources to cartographic teams. The development of the ability to take photographs from airplanes and helicopters has helped expand the detail and accuracy of relief charts.

An effective topographic survey can lead to the creation of very useful pamphlets. Campers, engineers, hikers, students and others can have the advantage of exploring the natural and artificial land features of areas without being required to visit the sites in person. Among other uses, access to landscape details can be helpful when planning vacations, analyzing weather patterns or considering construction projects.

What Are the Benefits of Juicing?

If you are interested in improving your life, then it is important to learn about the benefits of juicing. Juicing has become a very popular method of getting extra nutrients. There are entire books written about why it is such a popular lifestyle choice. You will be able to get the essential vitamins and nutrients from fresh veggies and fruits much easier than if you were to try and eat them. According the American health association many people lack adequate nutrition in their diet. One great way to get these nutrients is by supplementing your diet with fresh vegetable and fruit juicers.

The first thing you need to consider is why Juicing is better than eating fruits and vegetables. Well, first off you can get more essential vitamins, antioxidants, and nutrients when you juice. If you were to try and eat the amount of foods necessary to get high levels of these powerful antioxidants you would be sickened. No one can sit and eat pounds and pounds of fruits and vegetables.

The benefit to juicing is that it removes the fiber, the bulk of the fruit or vegetables. Now, it is important to get some fiber, but you do not need to get all the fiber in a dozen carrots. The juice is where the important nutrients are. This is why you need to juice. The juicing machine will extract the juice from your produce and then allow you to drink it.

The next benefit to juicing is that it saves you a tremendous amount of money. Save you understand the benefits of juicing, but you are not ready to begin juicing yourself. So you go to the juice shop and have them make juices for you. The problem with this is that it is very, very costly. You will end up spending a tremendous amount of money on that juice. Why not save yourself so much money and do it yourself.

The third benefit of juicing is that you get to see exactly what is in your juice. People who buy bottled juices, or even those who go to a nice health food store, are often times unaware of the problems that can arise from store brought juice. Freshly made juice is always healthier and it is certainly more nutrient dense.

The longer juice sits around in a bottle, the more the nutrient density decreases. This is why you should always make your own fresh drinks. The benefit to making fresh vegetable or fruit juice is that it is full of antioxidants and vitamins. There is nothing else comparable.

Magical Element Fire - The Action and Will of Manifestation

Everything in this Universe is made up of some combination of the four magical elements: Air, Fire, Water and Earth. The fire element is associated with will, personal power, and creativity. Fire is also the actional and motivation part of any creation and manifestation.

Magically speaking, once you've developed the idea of what you want to create (and done the planning part) using the Air element, it's time to move into Fire, where you take action and endeavor to bring your creation into being.

Fire is associated with the direction South, which is also the direction in which we perform all major spellwork and creation. Fire elementals are called salamanders and reside in campfires, woodstoves or anywhere there is a fire. Specifically, Fire corresponds to:

... energy, power, will, desire, anger, pain, motivation, radiance, passion, initiative, aggression, limitation, endeavor, activity, creative, willingness, urge, inspiration, excitement, courage, bravado, compulsion, fanaticism, frustration, resentment, rage, freedom ...

If you want to affect any of these areas in your life, then you need to work with Fire. Unlike Air, which has only three colors, Fire has six major colors:

Sun Yellow - Spirit fire, creativity, radiance Yellow-Orange - Motivation, excitability, activity Red-Orange - Anger, pain, fever, aggression, drive Bright-Red - Courage, bravado, will, endeavor Deep Red - Passion, flow Electric-Blue - All bands, initiating force on galactic or universal levels

As with the element Air, you can use the element Fire to adjust various aspects of your life. For instance, if you consistently wake up with the "Monday morning blues," try adding Sun Yellow to your environment. For instance, you could start dressing in Sun Yellow, burn a Sun Yellow candle or put a Sun Yellow spread on your bed.

All of these sources of Sun Yellow will nourish and feed your spirit, increasing your Spirit vitality and chasing away feelings of gloom and doom. Sun Yellow also feed any "hole in the soul" feelings you might have (and which you might otherwise try to fill with food, sleep, or other numbing pleasures). Sun Yellow is literally a spiritual "jump start."

More About Salamanders

Harry Potter played with salamanders in his movie ... and so can you! Salamanders occur around fires, such as wood burning stoves or campfires. They are ball-shaped, pick up the energy of the fire, and become visible. You will see a ball shaped dome in certain parts of the fire, and ashes will fall around them, not on them.

They are useful to have around as they increase the level of heat, making the fire hotter with less wood. If you leave an inch of ash at the bottom of the campfire, it will encourage the salamanders to stay in the campfire, which makes it easier to restart when you return. To keep salamanders around, bed down your coals with layer of earth, it provides an air insulator that they can burrow into. You can dig them out later, and easily restart your fire. A candle flame will spit out little sparks called sprites, which are actually baby salamanders. You can catch them in baby food jars and they will stay glowing in there for 30 or 45 seconds. If you open the jar during that time, they will jump back into in the candle flame. Have fun!
